How ~ Day 10 ~ 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes

P.S. Just so you know, I’m finding it difficult to stick to five minutes (**) and it may take me longer than the 31 days to finish all the prompts. Not easy for this rule follower!

Brushing Up on Our “How To”

One of the kids’ and my favorite assignments in Second Grade was always to write the steps of “How to Brush Your Teeth”! It was a rare time when they wrote furiously because they knew that their crazy teacher would follow the directions to act out some of their compositions. Quickly scanning each paper as I walked through the aisles helped me choose the perfect ones to demonstrate.

Asking for volunteers who were sure they’d written every step, without fail each hand would always go up. Some stretched as high above their neighbor’s as they possibly could get.  Others waved back and forth to grab my attention. And still a few more added excited grunting noises to accompany their enthusiastic hand gyrations.  Continue reading
